Default cash cow? [military people come in]

What would be better, army or air force?

and what jobs give out the best pay? I was thinking about this for awhile now and I really want to start my life in the right path. I know this will help me in the long run paying for my college and such. I am willing to learn anything either it be in a office or in the field. Plus I dont care if I leave alot or not I plan to be active for 3 years or so...

^^ Would you want to go to war a/ w diabetic? What if u need a fix and are in a remote area w/ no insulin? That's a complication at war that is not needed.

i hate being canadian -_- i almost enlisted.

Anywho - depends on your interests and such - for me, I'm a total robotics kind of person, and the AF has more in terms of robotics than any other branch, so far.

....meaning... both branches have a lot to offer in tems of training for a job that would be beneficial to you in the civilian world. However, the higher your GT score - the more job options you have.

For instance, if you score a GT of 110 or higher in the Army you are eligable for ANY job you pick as long as it is available. I'm not sure what the Air Forces requires in terms of the GT score but I'm sure its a little higher than thre Army.

    Full time or part time?

The National Guard is pretty cool since you are governed by the State AND the Govt.

I am currently a Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Specialist (74D) in the Army National Guard. However, If all goes as planned with my security clearance I should be a Signals Intelligence Analyst (Military Intel - 35N) by Dec. 20th. I'll be submitting my WOFT packet next year to hopefully get into Army Aviation and fly helicopters.

Maybe. My dad's a cargo plane pilot in Afghanistan for BW, so I doubt he's done any of the things you say "they do."

i want to get on with dyncorp a few buddies i got have said they have 6 figure salaries for afgan deployments..... btw i was in the airforce and all in all it was cool...

i joined too young and got into trouble..... but the training i got and experience is key....

i work with people that have degrees and i make more money(in some cases).... i work with guys that have paid 30k for liscenses to do certain work and i tell them what to do and i make more money(in almost all cases)....I have no liscense.

but alot of that has to do with my experience and skills so.......

id say go air force... it easy and the jobs are more specialized.... navy next... then fuck it go army or marines..... but.... if you join air force and get kicked out the army will take you.... but not the other way aroung .

also dont go computer or it..... you can get better training from devry or itt tech.... dont got civil engineering..... do something with weapons systems, aviation, and or nuclear. best bet is to go search monster and find the highest paid technical job and base your decision on that......

    or be a paralegal.....

anyways i hope you make it and retire wish i did.

i almost signed my NAVY enlistment papers a few months ago when i didnt have a job.

I was approved for any job I wanted that was available. My asvab score was a 92.

Navy and Air Force pay the most. The jobs are much less dangerous and the training you get is amazing.

If i'm not in school by spring, I'm enlisting for real this time.

Dont go nuclear. It's a bitch. I've only met 1 person that enjoys their Nuclear career.

If its about the money.... forget about it. If you want the life of bronze and heroism... join the Marine Corps... All these POGs and airmen are just giving there 2 cents and what not. What do you want to do and ill tell you which branch is the best no bias. You want combat... go marines, you want an education go navy or airforce, you want to look nasty like everyday and have bad officers and ncos, go army.

the money you make is not based on your career choice.. all branches of the military get paid the same... the pay is based on your rank.....the only difference is that some incentives are added depending on what and where you do it.. for instance.... an E1 in the military makes an avg $13,809.60 yearly... but heres the kicker.. you get monthly allowances or basically bonuses depending on your situation... if your married you get an extra 1k or so a month. if you are in the navy and go out on the ship you will also make family separation pay which is around another 150 or so.. then if you work on the flight deck you get flight deck pay, hazardous duty pay, sea duty pay,so on and so on. aside from this you also get into tax free zones where your entire check for those 6months, year, or whatever are tax free. the only thing they pull taxes on is your inital pay. all your bonuses are tax free..so even though you might have brought in 30k theyll only pull taxes from 13k or so which puts you in a lower tax bracket....

there is a lot that goes into the pay situation.. but like i said all branches start out at the same pay depending on the rank... some branches just tend to move up in rank faster than others.. and some jobs tend to give you more incentives....

side note: im biased, but go Navy... nothing like hitting 6 different countries and partying your ass off in six months, plus you sleep on an actual mattress(very small, but mattress none the less. lol) and eat real food...
if you have any more questions pm me... and GL

ps.. Aviation Ordnance.. best job ever.lol...

    ^ I beg to differ.
Go Marine and you can be a grunt (WOOT) and be attached to a MEU and hit all the same countries the navy goes to... Get off the ship and spend "real" time there while they do all the gay stuff the navy does and get back on the ship and work out. Eat, sleep, workout, train. Thats the life... and theres ways around to make real money, IE.... get married (have an agreement), live off base (COLA or BAH), Have kids and rack up some real tax dollars
